Saturday sky through crow's nest. In the very center top of the picture is a crow's nest. It is the large dark spot. I need a better camera. My son is a photographer and he has cameras that would show the nest but he is not here. We have lots of all kinds of birds and I love seeing ones I have never seen before. We have feeders right outside the kitchen window and I especially love the goldfinch and the black capped chickadee and, of course, the hummingbirds. DS made us two bluebird houses that are unique and quite nice. I will take a picture of them soon.

http://Southern Knit Bloggers

Well, I want to join this webring but I can't figure out how to add the ring code.

Anyway, I am a true southerner. Born in Georgia, lived in Florida, Mississippi, New York state, North Carolina and then back to Georgia The weather here now reminds me of Florida as it was back in the 60's when I lived there. We wore shorts at Christmas time and it never was really cold. We used to have seasons here in North Georgia but now we just have summer and then even hotter summer. The air conditioner is running in March. When I was in high school I remember walking over the hill to downtown and freezing. And the football games on Friday nights were really cold. Now I don't see how they play football in that heat.

My March socks. The picture does not show the pattern but it is Dublin Bay. The yarn is different shades of red and very soft and pretty.

We turned on the air conditioner. Seems funny to turn it on in March but it is hot.

Looking out my backdoor. The white is a dogwood tree and the pink is crabapple. It is March and the temperature was 87 degrees on my backporch yesterday. I have been packing up winter clothes this morning. I don't know why I bothered to buy them. I have several new things that I never wore because it was too hot. I did not wear a coat all year. I have a lovely red cape that I bought in Scotland that just went back into the cedar chest without being worn.
I have almost finished my March socks. They are red Dublin Bay.
Guess I started something with the napkins I made for Jacob. Now Charley Grace has to have her own napkins and Jacob needs more. But I have plenty of fabric to make them. I also started a pretty lace cardigan for Charley Grace but It is just barely started.

Another beautiful spring day, around 74 degrees. I did some spinning today. I am putting pastel beads on white silk, merino blend. Also made some progress on the first sleeve for my Dale of Norway sweater.

I have been feeling down because my son who moved to Ga. last year is moving back to Texas.
I will miss him but your children aren't your children forever. They grow up and go their own way which is as it should be. But when they are little you think they will be there forever.

Springtime in Georgia. The temp is 77 degrees. Beautiful day. We are beginning to get the pine tree pollen which will soon have everything yellow.

I am knitting the first sleeve to my Dale Ingeborg, a pair of socks, a baby blanket for Charlie Grace and several other things. Disorder seems to be my middle name.

We had a meeting of our knitting group on Saturday. It was fun and always great to have lunch at Panera. Reba, Paula, Jillian, Micah and I were there. Reba and I went to Michael's and I bought some cotton for a doily, which will be a new knitting experience for me, and some Paton's Grace for a lace sweater for Charlie Grace. I wanted pink but they did not have any so I bought a beautiful light blue.

Today I made silk flower arrangements to give for bingo prizes at the assisted living center where my mother lives. Carlton wants to keep the yellow one. I think they look like spring. It is 70 degrees here and very sunny and pretty. I also bought a few other things to go with these for prizes.

Yesterday I spent some time with mother recording her early life stories. Jonathan (DS) is writing a book about growing up in the Depression and wants to hear about her life. So we are recording it for him. She lived on a farm so there was plenty to eat but they had to work for it. Her most entertaining stores are about the animals. She does not care for animals since being chased by the bull and thrown off the horse and having to take care of her dad's hunting dogs.

I have some time left before dinner so I will go knit a little while.

In my Backyard.

I guess spring is here. What happened to winter. We did not have much cold weather.

I did a little sewing this weekend. Mailed the package today. I made 5 bibs for Charley Grace like those I have made for years. Just take a washcloth and cut out a small semi-circle for the neck, bind with double wide tape, leaving the tape ends long enough to tie. These make excellent bibs and can be used to wash the little ones face. Then you can just throw them in the washing machine. Jacob is 4 and too big for bibs so I made him some cloth napkins. Two are white and I painted his name on them. The other three are cotton prints. One is smiley faces, one is Dalmation puppies, and the other one which I love has ants all over it. I also made myself a new needle holder for single point needles. I don't use those a lot anymore since I prefer circulars but sometimes they come in handy. It is easier to carry needles with you if you have a cloth holder for them.

I did a little shopping while I was out for things to use for bingo prizes at the Assisted Living Home where my mother lives. I got several containers for silk flower arrangements so I will go and make those arrangements now.

This is my Riley again. He is a great companion. He is on his bed on top of his blanket with his head resting on his pillow. So spoiled.

I am still struggling with the sleeve of my Dale. In the meantime there are socks to be knit. What fun.

It was a beautiful day here in north Georgia. A little cool but clear.

Another picture of my spoiled Riley. He is on his bed on top of his blanket but resting on his pillow. He sure is a great companion.

I am still struggling with my sleeve for my Dale Ingeborg. I just Zipped right along with the body of the sweater but the sleeve is giving me fits. I will one day get it done to my satisfaction.
